Ricky Martin to marry boyfriend Jwan Yosef
Ricky Martin officially announced his engagement to Arab artist Jwan Yosef on Wednesday`s The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
It`s a first for the 44-year-old Puerto Rican pop star - who came out in 2010 - and he proudly showed off his engagement band on the morning programme.
The Grammy winner gushed that he was in love with the Syrian-born, Swedish-raised 32-year-old, whom he met over a year ago through his conceptual paintings.
`I saw his art and I went crazy because I really love what he does. Really original. And I contacted him and then I collected him,` Ricky - born Enrique Morales - told Ellen.
Jwan`s current exhibition Maskings runs through December 3 at Stockholm gallery Stene Projects.
Martin nervously popped the question by declaring he `got something` for Yosef rather than the more traditional `will you marry me.`
`Bad! And then he was like, "Yes." I said, "I want to spend my life with you" and he was like, "what is the question?" "Would you marry me?"` the Vente Pa`ca hitmaker recalled.
`Yeah it was very beautiful and then you know it was very beautiful. And then 30 minutes after I said, "Did you say yes?" Yes, he said "yes."`
The Central Saint Martins grad is excited to be a stepfather to Ricky`s eight-year-old twins sons Matteo and Valentino.
`They love each other! It`s been perfect, Ellen. It`s been very special,` the Menudo alum - who split with economist Carlos González Abella in 2014 - smiled.
The Perdóname singer and his painter fiancé made their social media debut March 30 in Tokyo, and their red carpet debut April 15 in São Paulo.
